Direct Services - 18/09/97

V25-719 : IMAGE

The Director of Contract Services reported that for some years the department had used a very simple marketing style or logo on vehicles, brochures, and advertisements, which it was felt did not maximise marketing opportunities.

Members were shown a new logo incorporating the rising sun, the River Waveney and the Bascule bridge, which the Chairman and Leader considered appropriate to the authority's overall corporate image. Whilst it was not financially viable to immediately display the new logo on all of Contract Services' vehicles, it could be introduced as and when new vehicles were bought or re-painted, as individual trading accounts allowed.

The logo would also be introduced for letter headed paper, compliment slips, brochures etc as in the case with other Departments when current stocks were depleted.

The Director of Waveney Contract Services gave a costing breakdown for the placing of the logo on vehicles. Each application would be in the region of £350. It was proposed that six new vehicles on order plus 10 'prime site' existing vehicles be emblazoned first. The cost for the new vehicles would be incorporated in their purchase cost, making an overall cost of around £3,500 initially.

Members agreed that the new logo was appropriate, but stressed that only the corporate colour of maroon should be used.

RESOLVED

1 That the new logo incorporating the rising sun, the River Waveney and Bascule Bridge be adopted by Waveney Contract Services for use on such as vehicle livery, letter headed paper, brochures and advertisements.

2 That the logo be displayed on vehicles when individual trading accounts allow, and be used for new stocks of stationary.
