V25-718 : ANNUAL REPORT AND ACCOUNTS 1996/97

The Committee considered the report of the Director of Central Services which provided an opportunity to question matters contained in the Annual Report and Accounts. The Annual Report and Accounts remained subject to audit by the Council's external auditors.

In response to a member's question, the Director of Central Services confirmed the penalties that if any account did not meet its return for two consecutive years it could be closed down. The Chairman reminded members that the 6% return was for individual accounts, not an overall position.

Members congratulated the success and service of the canteen and asked where it was shown in the accounts. The Director of Waveney Contract Services relayed that it was amongst the heading Non-Statutory Cleaning, as the operator was also employed as a cleaner. Members asked if the figures relevant to the canteen could be disseminated and brought to the next meeting.
