V25-702 : CONDITION OF PROPERTY PRIOR TO TRANSFER
The Director of Housing and Environmental Services reminded members that at minute V24-24/22 Policy was made that a good standard of repair and decoration was expected prior to an offer of transfer being confirmed, and that the policy be strictly enforced in respect of all tenancies. Recently two exceptions had been made where a tenant had been eligible for a cash payment under the Cash Incentive for Moving Scheme. This allowed a cash payment of £1000 for every bedroom in excess of the needs of the tenant moving from a house to a one bedroom flat or bungalow. In both cases the money awarded was used to offset the costs of repairing and cleaning the house, and the balance of the money would be repaid to the outgoing tenant. RESOLVED
That the Director of Housing and Environmental Services be given delegated authority to approve a transfer to a tenant eligible for payment under the Cash Incentive for Moving Scheme when the property is in a poor state of repair or decorative condition, subject to the cost of carrying out the remedial work being met entirely by the eligible payment. *Policy Decision
