V25-680 : RENT PAYMENT CARDS

The Sub-Committee considered the report of the Director of Housing and Environmental Services which outlined a review of the way tenants made Giro payments through the Post Office. The introduction of the rent payment cards would speed up procedures, eliminate some payment queries and ultimately result in cost savings.

Specimens of cards used by other authorities were circulated at the meeting for inspection. Waveney's cards would be in the corporate colours of maroon and cream.

RESOLVED

1. That the change from Post Office Giro books to rent cards with effect from the start of January 1998 be approved.

2. That two card readers be purchased, initially for trial in the Cashier's office of the Housing and Environmental Services Department.
