V25-669 : ANGLIA IN BLOOM

The Director of Community Services reported that the Lowestoft in Bloom Committee had organised a very successful series of competitions within Lowestoft to improve and enhance the Town. Eleven different competitions were organised to involve the public, private and commercial sector in Lowestoft in Bloom, varying from best street and best front garden to best overall impression and best hanging container in the commercial sector.

The success of these competitions enabled Lowestoft to be entered in the Anglia in Bloom competition, part of the Britain in Bloom Campaign. Judges had visited Lowestoft and seemed very impressed with a number of sites that they were shown. The Anglia in Bloom awards ceremony would be held in Clacton on 19 September 1997.

RESOLVED

That the Lowestoft in Bloom Committee be formally thanked for its hard work with the competitions this year, and in entering the Anglia in Bloom Competition.
