V25-668 : OCEANRIDE, VICTORIA BEACH, LOWESTOFT
The Director of Community Services reported that a request had been received from North Sea Training to operate the Oceanride (Banana) between the Claremont Pier and Pakefield. The Oceanride would add a new attraction to the existing seafront activities and prove popular with residents and visitors of all ages. North Sea Training had complied with the highest possible safety standards and provided adequate insurance to the satisfaction of the Chairman. It was proposed that approval be given for the Oceanride to operate for the remainder of this season on a trial basis, and if successful on a more permanent arrangement. The agreement with North Sea Training would enable an officer nominated by the Council to stop the activity immediately for any reason, and a concession fee to be agreed by the Director of Community Services would apply from 1998. RESOLVED
That the action of the Director of Community Services, in consultation with the Chairman, in granting approval to the operation of the Oceanride on a trial basis for the remainder of the season and if successful on a more permanent arrangement, be confirmed.
