V25-662 : ARTS FOR EVERYONE

The Director of Community Services reported that at minute V25-160 it was agreed that part of the Leisure Revenue Grants Budget would be allocated to assist applications currently under consideration with the Arts Council's Arts for Everyone Express pilot scheme (A4E).

A4E was funded by the National Lottery and administered by the Arts Council of England and was designed to allow voluntary and amateur arts groups to gain funding for projects costing between £500 and £5000. The latest round of awards was announced on 29 July 1997 and 11 applicants within Waveney were successful.

Distribution of these awards covered the whole of Waveney and almost every branch of the arts including, drama, music, youth arts, new writing, film and video, visual arts, photography and community arts.

RESOLVED

That the successful A4E grant applicants be congratulated on the awards and that the Council continues to support Arts Development of this kind.
