Application for erection of single storey extension.

The Director of Planning and Building Control Officer reported that this proposal was acceptable in design terms, although the neighbour had objected to a reduction in outlook. This objection, however, would not be sufficient to justify refusal. However, the applicant was prepared to amend the application and take the front extension back, or even move it to the rear of the property if the Sub- Committee felt this was necessary.

Members felt that as the neighbour's property faced straight onto the application site the proposed extension, although not close enough to have an effect on light, would reduce the amenity value of his property sufficiently to justify refusal. They were willing, however, for an amended plan to be approved by the Director of Planning and Building Control if he felt it was acceptable and did not disadvantage the neighbouring property.

RESOLVED

That the Director of Planning and Building Control be given delegated authority to grant planning permission to an amended application W16769.
