V25-562 : UNAUTHORISED SIGNS BESIDE PRINCIPAL ROADS

The Sub-Committee considered the report of the Director of Planning and Building Control summarising the increasingly bold and widespread disregard of the Advertisement Regulations and the Highways Act which had led to a rash of prominent roadside advertising.

RESOLVED

1. That the owners of the signs outlined in the report of the Director of Planning and Building Control be given 28 days' written notice to remove them or submit a planning application (not including signs on highway property) and that the Chief Executive be authorised to take all pursuant action to enforce removal of the signs in the event of non-compliance.

2. That the Director of Planning and Building Control and the Chief Executive be authorised to carry out the above procedure in the event of any future unauthorised roadside signs, other than temporary signs of the type and for the number of days as specified above.
