V25-498 : CITIZENS ADVICE BUREAUX
The managers of the two CABx, Mrs M Bracey for Lowestoft and Mrs J Buck for Beccles, Bungay and Halesworth, had been invited to make presentations to the Sub-Committee on the Service and future development of the CABx in Waveney. The two managers, plus staff from their offices, made a presentation to the Sub-Committee concerning the vast amount of work they had to deal with whilst having only limited resources. All salaried staff actually put in many more hours than they were paid for, and the managers were worried that this goodwill could not be relied upon indefinitely. It was therefore important that these staff should be paid for the hours they put in. Approximately a third of the people of Waveney had contacted the Lowestoft and Rural Citizens Advice Bureaux during 1996/97. If this level of service was to continue funding would need to be increased to cover such things as information systems, rents and salaries. The presentation ended with an invitation to members to visit any of the Lowestoft, Beccles, Bungay and Halesworth Citizens Advice Bureaux. RESOLVED
That the report be received.
