V25-46 : W16762 SITE AT FEN LANE, BECCLES

Application for siting of six portacabins and change of use to parade ground/meeting venue for sea cadets.

The recommendation of the Director of Planning and Building Control was for approval, for five years, as this was an appropriate use for the site. However, the proposed chain link fencing was inadequate to screen the portacabins, and two metre high dark-stained solid fencing would be required.

The Sea Cadets had commenced some planting on the boundary, and further landscaping together with the portacabins being painted dark green would minimise the impact of these buildings. The Town Council's observation was also for approval.

The proposed site was within the broads area and a response was still awaited from the Broads Authority. It was suggested that the Director be given authority to approve the application should no objections be forthcoming.

RESOLVED

That the Director of Planning and Building Control be given delegated authority to grant planning permission to application W16762, temporary for five years, subject to the provision of landscaping, fencing and green painted portacabins, should no objections be made by the Broads Authority,

(Councillors Jenkins, Kemp and Whatling declared an interest in the above item, and left the room during the debate, and Councillor Jermy as Vice-Chairman took the Chair)
