V25-418 : FUTURE DEVELOPMENT OF THE MUSEUM
Recent developments had identified potential for change on two levels; the use of the flat in Broad House and the draft Coastal Leisure Development Plan. Following the death of Mr. Carpenter, Mrs. Carpenter did not wish to remain in the flat at Broad House. There would therefore be some potential for extending the storage facilities for the museum. Several issues required investigation prior to a decision being made, including securing, use of housing stock, financial implications, planning implications and Mrs. Carpenter's requirements. Proposals for possible uses for the flat, including costings, would be reported at the next meeting of the Committee. The Coastal Leisure Development Plan offered long term potential for development, including the possibility of a new site for the museum. Details of the full plan were not yet available but it was understood that a heritage strategy would be produced as part of the Coastal Leisure Development Plan which would address these issues. RECOMMENDED
1. That Waveney District Council officers be requested to investigate the potential for the use of the flat by the Lowestoft Museum and report back to the next meeting of the Committee. 2. That the Trustees be consulted prior to the production of the Heritage Development Strategy. The Meeting was concluded at 8.05 pm
