V25-416 : TRUSTEES

This year Broad House had lost five Trustees and was likely to lose another in due course. Lord Somerleyton was to become Patron of the Lowestoft Archaeological and Local History Society, ceasing to be Chairman of Trustees. His place was being taken by Mr. Malcolm Berridge, who was already a Trustee. Sadly, Dr. Sue Margesson, a Trustee from Norwich Castle Museum, had passed away. Dr. Hilary Feldman from Ipswich had resigned due to family commitments, and the South Eastern Museums Service had revised its rules and no longer required representation on the Boards of Registered Museums. Miss Kate Walters would revert to being Curatorial Advisor, attending in a non-voting capacity. Finally, Barry Porter was to move abroad in the near future and had indicated that he would then resign from the Trustees.

There were therefore 10 Trustees out of a permitted 16. Ms. Sheila Watson, the Curator of the Great Yarmouth Museums, had been approached and was willing to take Sue Margesson's place, providing she had permission from the County authorities. Mr. Russell Sprake had indicated that he would like to be a Trustee and this matter would be dealt with at the October meeting. It was felt that this more manageable number of Trustees would make a viable board.

RESOLVED

1. That the thanks of the Consultative Committee be passed on to those retiring Trustees for their efforts during their period of office.

2. That the condolences of the Consultative Committee be passed to the family of Dr. Sue Margesson.

3. That new Trustees be welcomed to the Consultative Committee.
