V25-402 : FOOTPATH 21 - PROPOSED FOOTPATH/CYCLE WAY
The Committee considered the report of the Director of Community Services which detailed the route of the proposed cycle and footway route in Normanston Park. Option one as proposed followed the natural straight line cyclists already used. From Peto Way the route joined the car park on the north-west side of the changing room block. At the south- west end of the car park the route joined an existing footpath before diverting to the south of the all-weather tennis courts. The route would take the cycle way through the existing play area which would have to be relocated north-west, closer to the pavilion. The route then followed the natural contours of the park before exiting into Constable Close. The Director of Community Services alleviated members' concerns in respect of the re-siting of the play area, the close proximity to football pitches, and minimum intrusion lighting. The item was also to be discussed at the meeting of the Community Services Committee on 26 June 1997. RESOLVED
That approval be granted to construct a footpath/cycle way through Normanston Park along the route designated as Option One in the report of the Director of Community Services and for the play area to be relocated closer to the pavilion. *Affects the Services of more than one Committee
