V25-400 : LAKE LOTHING AREA 1
The Committee considered the joint report of the Director of Planning and Building Control and Director of Community Services which suggested how to initiate the process of bringing Area 1 of Lake Lothing forward for development, via means of a Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA). Members expressed concerns as to whether the TIA would reveal any more than was already known. The problem was felt to be not in the quantity of vehicles using Crompton, Lake View and Stanley Roads, but in the type of vehicle. The Director of Community Services understood the dilemma, but it was a concern that should the firm in question be asked to re-site they may well re-site outside Lowestoft and jobs be lost. The conclusions which the TIA would bring were needed. The Director of Planning and Building Control agreed that a firm objective basis would lead to calculations being available for all possible developers to be given a figure as their contribution to the highway/junction improvements. RESOLVED
That the Lowestoft Partnership Joint Panel be requested to consider funding and implementing a general Traffic Impact Assessment for Area 1 of Lake Lothing, as defined in the plan accompanying the report.
