V25-38 : W9290/5 BARN NORTH OF LOWER GREEN FARM, SOTTERLEY

Listed building consent for replacement of thatch roofing with corrugated metal.

The Director of Planning and Building Control reported that this barn was surrounded by modern farm buildings and housed grain drying equipment. The proposed tin cladding would ensure that the building had a useful future and that the fine timber frame was preserved; in the circumstances he reluctantly recommended approval. The Council's Conservation Officer had advised that the proposal would ensure that the roof timbers were repaired and retained, and that the thatch could be returned at a later date. The Parish Council's observation was for refusal.

RESOLVED

That planning permission be granted to application W9290/5, subject to red oxide roof coating.
