Application for change of use to car sales area.

The Director of Planning and Building Control reported that the above hall had been boarded up for some time, and the applicant proposed to demolish the building and increase the area of his adjacent car sales company. A good standard of walls and railings would surround the entire site, and the wall of the house adjoining the hall would be made good. The recommendation of the Director of Planning and Building Control was for approval, subject to walls and fences being completed before the site was brought into use for car sales.

The highway authority had advised that, although the site would be rather tight for manoeuvring, it would generally only be used for display of vehicles. There were also worries about the proximity of the entrances to the site to the junction of Stanley Street and Raglan Street, however, this was not a heavily used junction and the recommendation of the highway authority was for approval.

RESOLVED

That planning permission be granted to application W16832, subject to completion of walls and fences before commencement of use.
