Outline application for erection of freestanding restaurant drive through facility.

The above applications were considered together as they related to the same site.

A public inquiry on the above matter had been held during the week of 26 May 1997 where the Council opposed the principle of further retailing on this site. Two units had been refused on this site at minute V24 - 233/2 due to the railway station site being the Council's preferred site for major retail development, however, negotiations were invited regarding proposals which might overcome policy and other planning objections.

Two 10,000 sq ft retail units and a drive through restaurant were now proposed for the site, however, while an appeal was still pending on the above principle the recommendation of the Director of Planning and Building Control was for refusal in accordance with previous decisions, the Council's Retail Strategy and PPG6.

RESOLVED

That planning permission be refused to applications W2863/20 and W2863/21.
