V25-308 : COUNCILLOR ROBERT BLIZZARD - RESIGNATION
The Chief Executive reported the receipt of Councillor Robert Blizzard's resignation as a member of this Authority. In hearing of the formal resignation of Councillor Blizzard from the Authority Councillor Bostock acknowledged the achievements of Councillor Blizzard since his election to the Council in May 1987. Having won his seat by one vote he clearly had made a sufficient impression to ensure his success was resounding at the next set of elections. He had made his mark early on by becoming Chairman of Planning No. 1 within his first year as a Councillor. In 1991 he became Leader and Chairman of Policy and Resources and continued to hold that position until his election as Member of Parliament for Waveney constituency in May 1997. He had always been forceful and energetic and made his presence felt and the experience and knowledge gained as a Councillor will stand him in good stead as Member of Parliament for the Waveney constituency. In concluding Councillor Bostock conveyed the Council's thanks and good wishes for a long and successful career as Member of Parliament for Waveney. Councillor Rose expressed his party's congratulations to Bob who had clearly worked hard within the constituency but hoped that Bob would not forget that the Waveney area was rural as well as urban and reflected that if it wasn't for that one vote in 1987 things could have been very different. However he wished Bob well in his new role. Councillor Crisp congratulated Bob's success at the election and hoped his success would be Waveney's success. The Chief Executive on behalf of the officers of the Council wished Bob and his family well and extended the offer of professional help and support. The Chief Executive concluded by thanking Bob Blizzard for his past work with the officers.
