V25-306 : COMMUNICATIONS

(a) Civic Service

The Chairman reminded Councillors that the Civic Ceremony would be held at St. Benedicts Church on Sunday 22 June 1997 at 6.00pm.

(b) Kuk Sool Won Association

The Chairman informed Councillors that she had received a letter from the above association informing her of the recent success of the local branch at the recently held Kuk Sool Won Masters Exhibition. The local association had been placed third in the country out of 26 competing teams with notable performances from Mrs. Alison Ducker who became national ladies champion and Matthew Fox who had been awarded silver and received his second dan black belt. Chairman agreed to pass on the Council's congratulations to the Lowestoft Kuk Sool Won Association.

(c) Ordination of William Stewart

The Chairman announced that she had attended William Stewart's ordination as Bishop of Taunton which was carried out by the Archbishop of Canterbury and that five coachloads of people from Lowestoft went to the service in Westminster Abbey.

(d) British Legion Rededication

The Chairman informed Councillors that on 15 June she attended a ceremony for the rededication of the British Legion standards.

(e) Colonel Chadd

The Chairman announced the recent death of a highly respected member of the community, Colonel Chadd. She reminded members of Colonel Chadd's involvement in the community while running a successful department store in Lowestoft.

Members and Officers stood in silent tribute to his memory.
