V25-212 : LOST HOMES CAMPAIGN
The Sub-Committee were informed that the National Housing Federation had launched a campaign to highlight the inadequate resources invested in social housing. At existing levels of investment the overall number of new homes built and refurbished in 1999 would be just over 40,000, an historic post war low. The Federation would urge the next Government to establish a strategic framework, to enable local authorities to work in partnership with other social housing providers to tackle housing problems in their area. A copy of the NHF's model resolution was considered. RESOLVED
That this Council supports the National Federation Lost Homes Campaign, and the local MP and the Secretary of State for the Environment be written to informing them of this view.
