V25-1610 : STREET COLLECTIONS
The report of the Chief Executive reviewed the Council's policy for issuing Street Collection Permits, in light of difficulties in Southwold and Beccles. The Council only issued one permit in any one place on any one day, and to allow fair distribution of prime dates only issued one permit at a time. Lloyds Bank allowed charities to use the front area of their premises at Southwold and Beccles. This activity required a Street Collection Permit. However Lloyds had been accepting several bookings from charities for collection days throughout the year which conflicted with the Council's policy. Lloyds had agreed to abide by the Council's principle of only issuing one Street Collection Permit at a time, and members were asked to reconsider this policy and either amend or confirm. RESOLVED
1. That the policy of issuing one Street Collection Permit to a single charitable organisation for a specified area on any one day be confirmed. 2. That the policy of only issuing one Street Collection Permit to any one charitable organisation at a time be confirmed, so as to allow a fairer distribution of the prime dates in any one year to all local charities. 3. That second and subsequent permits from one charity for additional dates throughout the calendar year be applied for no more than six weeks before the planned collection. *Policy Decision
The Meeting was concluded at 5.45 pm
