V25-1602 : RENEWAL OF PUBLIC ENTERTAINMENT LICENCES

PREMISES WITH HOURS BEYOND MIDNIGHT

The report of the Chief Executive listed those premises which had submitted applications for renewal of the Public Entertainment Licences for the year to 31 January 1999. No objections had been received to the renewal of the licences from either the Police or the Director of Housing and Environmental Services, with the exception of Public Entertainment Licence No. 62, The Kings Hotel, Bungay. These premises had been subject to numerous and consistent noise complaints during 1997. The complaints were justified, and substantial enough to serve notices under the Environmental Protection Act 1990. Environmental Services recommended that the Public Entertainment Licence be issued for a period ending 30 June 1998. During this period monitoring would be undertaken and the licence would be reviewed before the end of this period.

RESOLVED
1. That the Public Entertainment Licence for those premises as set out in the appendix to the minutes be renewed on the terms sought. 2. That the Chief Executive be given delegated authority to renew those premises marked with an asterisk as set out in the appendix to the minutes once the renewal applications have been received. 3. That the Public Entertainment Licence for The Kings Hotel, Bungay be issued to expire on 30 June 1998 to allow a period of monitoring to be undertaken. 4. That the applicant for the Kings Hotel, Bungay be informed that an extension of this period will be subject to an improved observance of this notice served under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, so as to reduce the noise nuisance from his premises.
