V25-1567 : KENSINGTON GARDENS POND
The report of the Director of Community Services examined the problems associated with Kensington Gardens pond over the past few years, including the poor condition of the water. The Director outlined a possibility of obtaining matching funding for the remedial works which would necessitate their postponement for 12 months. If matching funding was obtained the works to Kensington Gardens pond could be greatly enhanced, and it was proposed that the cost of carrying out the works should be carried over for twelve months until the outcome of the bid was known. RESOLVED
1. That the pond in Kensington Gardens west of the bridge shaded on the plan attached to the report of the Director of Community Services be relined using glass fibre, and that a filtration system be installed. 2. That the pond east of the bridge be made into a bog garden.
3. That the cost of these works be met from existing budgets, years 1997/98 and 1998/99 with some reduction in other reinstatement works, and that this sum be carried forward for 12 months to await the outcome of a bid for matching funding.
