COASTAL ISSUES SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP

The report of the Director of Community Services outlined the topics discussed at the meeting of the above Special Interest Group held on 29 January 1998 which was attended by the Chairman.

The major topics for discussion were the Standard Spending Assessment for Coast Protection, the Regeneration of Coastal Towns, and the MAFF Comprehensive Spending Review.

RESOLVED

1. That the Local Government Association responses to the issues raised at the Coastal Issues Special Interest Group be supported.

2. That the Council support the case made by the consultant Rita Hale for retaining the existing arrangements for calculating Flood Defence and Coast Protection Standard Spending Assessments.
