W1179/19 - EASTERN ELECTRICITY DEPOT, INGATE, BECCLES

Conservation Area Consent to demolish existing walls, alter and repair boundary walls.

The Director of Planning and Building Control reported negotiations with the applicant, and his revised recommendation was for approval of a revised scheme of three houses and two bungalows, which related more appropriately to the Ingate frontage and Stewart Drive at the rear. The observation of the Town Council was that provided unrestricted access continued to be provided for Grove House and the three existing dwellings of Grove Mews and drainage arrangement were adequate, the application was acceptable.

The Director read a letter from the applicants' agent confirming the unrestricted access to the Grove House properties. Members were disappointed that such a large 'brown field' site so close to the centre of town could only be utilised for five properties, but accepted the highway access problem as a major drawback for any scheme of higher density.

RESOLVED

1. That planning permission be granted to the revised scheme for application W1179/18.

2. That Conservation Area Consent for demolition be granted to application W1179/19.
