V25-1505 : PROPOSED HOUSE AND GARAGE, ADJACENT 2 OLD LANE, LOWESTOFT

This item was considered as a matter of urgency, under the statutory provisions accorded to the Chairman, as the builder was about to commence work on the site.

The Director of Planning and Building Control reported that this development of the side garden of 2 Old Lane, Lowestoft was allowed on appeal and had undergone lengthy negotiations, with a succession of prospective purchasers, to try to achieve a satisfactory detailed scheme. Members last agreed amendments at minute V24-572/2.

The new purchaser wished to add a single-storey lean-to extension to the north and west sides of the not yet started house. This would bring building works closer to the preserved trees but not actually within their root spread.

An officer decision was about to be taken, but a last minute objection had been received on the grounds of loss of south light and outlook and harm to the trees. It was felt that neither of these factors was significantly worse than as last approved, however by moving the whole house forward again, slightly altering the footprint, the impacts would be less still.

RESOLVED

1. That the Director of Planning and Building Control be given delegated authority to approve a further amendment to revisions of the proposed house and garage adjacent 2 Old Lane, Lowestoft on receipt of satisfactory plans.

The meeting was concluded at 8.50pm
