Application for continued use as four self-contained flats.

The Director of Planning and Building Control reported that the owner had acquired the property in 1990 when it appeared to be used as four holiday flats. There was no planning history to the premises, and therefore the authorised use was for a single dwelling house.

There was no parking provision for the flats, but as the use had existed for at least eight years, and the properties on either side were also sub-divided, the Director recommended approval subject to confirmation of an adequate means of escape from the top floor.

Members were concerned at the untidy appearance of the front of the building due to the number of wheelie bins and asked the Director to consult with the owner on possible "landscaping".

RESOLVED

That planning permission be granted to application W16993, subject to confirmation of an adequate means of escape being provided from the top floor.
