V25-1451 : MINUTES

The minutes of the last meeting (Part Two) held on 27 January 1998 which was taken in private in accordance with Section 100(A)(4) of the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended) were confirmed as a correct record and signed by the Chairman.

The Director of Central Services provided an update on the Council's bid to become the lead provider of the Environmental Task Force as resolved at minute V25-1398 . The invitation to submit a bid for this role had been received shortly before the last meeting of the Committee, and following detailed work the legal documentation was found to be very one sided and placed a large financial risk on the provider. Enquiries with other organisations for potential training provision had revealed the establishment of a consortium bid.

As a result of the above, the Council's involvement was reviewed and the Director, in consultation with the Chairman, agreed to join the consortium enabling the financial risk to be spread, the placements shared, and the appropriate work and training ensured. The Chief Executive was given authority, in consultation with the Chairman, to appoint a member representative to the consortium body, and attendance was authorised as an approved duty.
