V25-1399 : ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY REVIEW

The report of the Chief Executive provided a consultation draft of the Economic Development Strategy 1998/99 for member's comments and approval. The strategy underwent a major review last year and the new strategy was a continuation of that, albeit with a few significant alterations.

The Council was required under the provisions of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 to update its Strategy annually and also consult with the Business Community. A four week consultation period was provided for, culminating on 20 February 1998. Feedback received would be considered at the next Sub-Committee meeting.

RECOMMENDED

1. That the draft Economic Development Strategy for 1998/99 be released for consultation with the business community and other relevant organisations.

2. That feedback from the exercise be considered by the Sub-Committee at its next meeting.
