V25-1351 : PUBLIC ENTERTAINMENT LICENCE NO 297

THE SUFFOLK PUNCH - VARIATION

The report of the Chief Executive outlined an application from the proprietors of The Suffolk Punch to vary the hours of the current Public Entertainment Licence in relation to the Lounge Bar on Fridays and Saturdays from 11.00 pm, the present limit, to midnight.

Consultations had been sought from the police, who had raised objections. Members were also informed that the Environmental Health Section had been investigating noise complaints from the premises, the last being received on 16 August 1997. The Director of Housing and Environmental Services however, reported that as part of the renovations of the back bar at The Suffolk Punch, double-glazing was being installed to all windows.

The Director felt that it was difficult to determine whether the problem would be resolved by the installation of double-glazing and therefore suggested that the variation of the Entertainment Licence be granted temporarily so that an assessment could be made as to whether there would be a problem. If it was found that the extended hours increased the noise nuisance then action would be taken immediately to revoke the variation.

RESOLVED

That Public Entertainment Licence No 297 relating to the Suffolk Punch be varied for a trial period of two months, increasing licensing hours from 11.00 pm to midnight, Fridays and Saturdays. All other conditions to remain the same.
