V25-1328 : GARAGE SITE - GARDEN CLOSE, BUNGAY
The report of the Director of Housing and Environmental Services outlined the present situation with the above garages, one third of which were unoccupied. The Director of Housing and Environmental Services circulated a plan of the site at the meeting showing which garages were empty. Members were reminded of the decision at minute V21-103/5 to carry out repairs and maintenance to blocks one and three, demolish block two for possible re-development by a small scale new build Housing Association scheme. Following representation from residents no action was eventually taken to demolish and residents were advised by letter dated 21 July 1993. The 1998 situation was that the garages were now in need of considerable repair, and although Programme Maintenance was taking place on the estate there was no budget provision to consider demolition, which would be subject to tender. Committee were presented with five alternatives for the situation. RESOLVED
That block three be demolished, and the tenants relocated to other garages on Garden Close, with a view to possible redevelopment by a Housing Association.
