V25-1325 : SERVICING OF HEATING SYSTEMS

The report of the Director of Housing and Environmental Services reminded members that minute V23-468/11.2 had approved the cost relating to annual servicing of gas, oil or electric central heating systems.

Due to recent changes in legislation it had become necessary to also service solid fuel type systems annually. Consequently it was proposed that all properties that had a solid fuel system be charged to cover the cost of the service.

As the Council also undertook annual servicing to gas fires, the charge for which had not been passed on to the tenant, it was proposed that tenants with gas fires should bear the cost of the service, similar to tenants with central heating.

RESOLVED

1. That approval be given to apply a service charge to all properties with solid fuel heating systems, at a rate sufficient to cover the cost of the service, to take effect from 1 April 1998.
