V25-1290 : BROADLAND CABLEVISION FRANCHISE

The report of the Director of Community Services provided an update on the Broadland Cablevision Franchise which was now owned by Cable and Wireless. Cable and Wireless had also acquired another cable operator resulting in a delay to works in Lowestoft whilst the company was rationalised.

Cable and Wireless were unlikely to start installation works until Summer 1998, but the Director had requested a later date to avoid traffic disruption. The previous owners had agreed to make a presentation to members before commencing works, and Cable and Wireless were willing to honour this.

RESOLVED

That Cable and Wireless be invited to make a presentation on the installation of Cable in Lowestoft, and attendance be authorised as an approved duty.
