V25-1285 : BECCLES LORRY MANAGEMENT

The report of the Director of Community Services informed members that Suffolk County Council was undertaking a lorry study in the vicinity of Beccles to establish a network of appropriate lorry routes in the area.

The County Council sought views in December 1997 on the current arrangements for heavy lorries in Beccles and the surrounding area. The Director had consulted the Town Council and District Councillors and prepared a response, which was circulated at the meeting.

The Director highlighted the paragraph of his response, which included the following sentences: "A link road to the south of the town would provide relief from HGV's. The provision of such a route will however require care so as to not add development pressures to the southern side of the town, an issue raised in the Local Plan process".

RESOLVED

That the action of the Director of Community Services in responding on Lorry management in Beccles to Suffolk County Council be approved.
