V25-1252 : W8102/24 - KIRKLEY HIGH SCHOOL, KIRKLEY RUN, LOWESTOFT

Application for construction of gymnastics hall.

The Director of Planning and Building Control reported that this application had been refused at the last meeting of the Sub-Committee as the siting of the proposed building remained too close to the rear outlook of houses in Kirkley Run, although it had been reduced in scale. However, the Director reported that the school had since agreed to dedicate more land so that the building could be sited significantly further away. Consequently the decision notice had been withheld to enable members to reconsider.

Neighbours had been reconsulted and the two on which the building would have most impact still objected, mainly due to increased traffic in Kirkley Run, however the application could not be refused on traffic grounds. Any windows facing the two properties would be frosted, and the recommendation of the Director was now for approval.

RESOLVED

That planning permission be granted to application W8102/24.
(Councillor Stewart declared an interest in the above item and left the room during the debate).
