Application for erection of floodlighting.

The Director of Planning and Building Control informed members that the proposal was to erect four floodlights on six metre columns within the site to allow horses to be exercised in the evening. The site was in an elevated position and the applicants had been unable to demonstrate that the light could be contained within the paddock.

The Director recommended refusal as the lights were likely to be dominant and intrusive from the road and adjoining Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Highway Authority opposed the proposal due to light spillage onto the road.

The Parish Council had no objection provided the lighting was not excessive.

RESOLVED

That planning permission be refused to application W9942/6.
