V25-1210 : A/W835 - 159 VICTORIA ROAD, LOWESTOFT
The Director of Planning and Building Control reported that advertisement consent was refused by the Council on 10 January 1997 for the retention of an unauthorised free standing internally illuminated sign at the front of shop premises in Victoria Road. The consent was refused on grounds of being intrusive, prejudicial to visual amenity and a hazard to road users and pedestrians. The applicant appealed to the Department of the Environment and Transport who decided to uphold the Council's decision and dismissed the appeal. The sign remained in position and it was therefore considered that enforcement action should be instigated in order to have the sign removed. RESOLVED
That the Chief Executive be authorised to take all pursuant action to ensure the removal of the unauthorised advertisement sign at 159 Victoria Road, Lowestoft.
