V25-121 : A/W545/2 - JUBILEE WAY FILLING STATION, HIGH STREET, LOWESTOFT

Application to change existing Mobil signage to BP signage throughout.

The Director of Planning and Building Control reported that there had been Mobil signs in this sensitive conservation area site since 1987. Most of the proposed new signs were unobtrusive and acceptable, however the applicant wished to paint the word "welcome" on the canopy to the station. It would be in order for the applicant to re-paint the canopy green, but no illumination or wording could possibly be approved. As the applicant would not compromise further, the recommendation of the Director of Planning and Building Control was for refusal.

RESOLVED

That planning permission be refused to application A/W565/2, and that the Director of Planning and Building Control be given delegated authority to approve an amended application deleting any canopy signage.
