V25-1203 : REVENUE BUDGET 1998/99

The report of the Director of Central Services outlined those items to be included in the Council's budget which related to the activities of the Charter Trustees. It was practice to treat these items as part of the Council's budget and expenditure to avoid the Charter Trustees directly incurring these costs and then making a precept on the Council to provide the necessary finance.

The Council would resolve to treat the expenditure as "special expenses" for the purposes of Section 34(1)(b) of the Local Government Finance Act 1992 and to levy an additional council tax on Lowestoft to cover the cost.

The Plaisir Twinning grant had been increased to £1,000 in 1998/99 to recognise the 20th anniversary of the twinning. The costs of administering the Lowestoft Allotments would also be included in the special expenses, and the Community Services Committee would set this budget.

RESOLVED

That the proposed budget for 1998/99 to cover the expenses of the Lowestoft Charter Trustees be approved.
