Application for erection of detached double garage and extension to existing house.

This application had been refused at the previous meeting following a site meeting. The applicant had since reduced the scale of the extension, although neighbours still objected on the grounds of loss of light, appearance/mass of the building and the design of the front of the building.

The Director of Planning and Building Control reported that the new application would give the applicant vehicular access to a permitted development garage in the rear garden, which would result in the loss of two trees. The recommendation of the Director of Planning and Building Control was for approval, subject to the applicant discussing with officers the optimum siting for the garage.

Members were disappointed that there were still objections from neighbours but appreciated that the applicant had taken account of these objections and so agreed with the Director of Planning and Building Control's recommendation.

RESOLVED

That planning permission be granted to application W16773, subject to the applicant liaising with officers over the optimum siting of the garage.
