V25-1179 : LOWESTOFT AND HALESWORTH CONSERVATION AREA PARTNERSHIP BIDS

The Committee considered the report of the Director of Planning and Building Control which examined the implications and opportunities arising from the successful bid to English Heritage for the Lowestoft Conservation Area Partnership.

A bid for Halesworth was not successful due to the high demands and greater overall need for repairs elsewhere, according to English Heritage.

RESOLVED

1. That the Action Plan for the Lowestoft Conservation Area Partnership Scheme as described in the report of the Director of Planning and Building Control be submitted, and that the Chief Executive be given authority to enter into the Partnership Agreement.

2. That the following funding commitments for the Lowestoft Conservation Area Partnership Scheme be approved:

(i) £30,000 contributions from the 1998/99 Capital Programme towards the Marine Parade Walls Scheme;

(ii) £10,000 per annum for three years from the Capital Programme for the period 1998- 2001.

3. That the Personnel Resources Sub-Committee be recommended to approve the extension of the contracts of the Lowestoft CAPS Project Officer, and the Administrative Assistant by a further two years, and for the Administrative Assistant to be made full time to support the Partnership Scheme.

4. That the proposed extension to the South Lowestoft Conservation Area in London Road South be confirmed.
