V25-1159 : PREMIER DRIVER SCHEME
The Sub-Committee considered the report of the Chief Executive which detailed a training scheme for Taxi and Private Hire Drivers which would enable them to improve the service offered to customers. As Taxi and Private hire vehicle drivers were in many cases the first point of contact with both business visitors and holidaymakers the training would improve their capacity to act as ambassadors for the area. The scheme had been operated in Brighton and had met a good response from the industry. RESOLVED
1. That a one off grant of £3,000 be made to support the Premier Driver Scheme, subject to matching funding by Norfolk and Waveney TEC, to be met from the 1997/98 Initiatives and Promotions budget. 2. That subject to the above, training courses be arranged for early 1998 to coincide with school holidays and to have information available for drivers for the first holidaymakers of 1998.
