V25-1131 : MEMBERSHIP OF INTER-AUTHORITIES GROUP
The Committee were informed that the Inter-Authorities Group (IAG) was established in 1992 and comprised approximately 100 members, including London Boroughs, District and Borough Councils, City and County Authorities. Initially, the IAG focused on cost comparison and market information with particular emphasis on "white collar CCT services". The intention was to provide members with enough common ground information to enable them to benchmark their services. With the developing concept of Best Value placing a significant emphasis on benchmarking and the sharing of best practice, the IAG was now concentrating much of its efforts into "blue collar" services and was proceeding with exercises on Building Maintenance Grounds Maintenance, Street Cleansing and other services in 1998. Contacts involved in the Building Maintenance exercise considered that very useful information was already emerging. Membership of the IAG was £500 per annum and was considered a modest outlay to obtain information to underpin the drive for Best Value over the next few years. The application to join the IAG required a contact officer to be named. RESOLVED
That the Inter-Authorities Group be joined via the Director of Waveney Contract Services at an annual subscription of £500, to be met from existing overheads.
