V25-1130 : COMMERCIAL LIFT FOR VEHICLE WORKSHOPS

The Committee were informed that Waveney Contract Services' vehicle maintenance workshops contained four lifts for servicing and maintaining vehicles. Of those, two were capable of lifting HGVs. The centre crossbeam on the oldest one of these two lifts had broken. As the lift was twenty-three years old the opinion, together with that of the company that maintained and tested it, was that it had come to the end of its useful life. It was necessary to have two lifts capable of taking HGVs so that the required level of service could be provided to the workshops' customers.

The most appropriate replacement was a 24 tonne Comtec SF8801 manufactured and installed, by Tecalemit Garage Equipment Ltd at a total cost of £20,465. The lift had been sourced through The Buying Agency purchasing consortium, complying with standing orders in respect of tenders and quotations. In view of the urgent need to replace the ramp, approval to place the order had been obtained from the Chairman of Direct Services Committee.

RESOLVED

That the action taken by the Director of Waveney Contract Services, in consultation with the Chairman, to order a replacement vehicle lift at a price of £20,465 be confirmed, to be financed from the Renewals Fund.
