V25-1091 : CAPITAL RECEIPTS INITIATIVE

The Sub-Committee considered the report of the Director of Housing and Environmental Services which informed of the additional financial resources made available under the Government's Capital Receipts Initiative for the financial years 1997/98 and 1998/99 and how they were intended to be used.

Deadlines for acceptance of the resources fell on 20 October and 10 November 1997 and therefore necessary action was taken by the Director of Housing and Environmental Services in consultation with the Chairman of Housing and Environmental Services Committee.

The Director of Housing and Environmental Services drew attention to paragraph 2.3 of the report which identified works proposed for 1997/98, window replacements to 144 properties in Groups 3, 5 and 8 to an approximate value of £150k, and part of the deferred programme for central heating installation to an approximate value of £100k.

Attention was also drawn to paragraph 3.2 defining categories how the additional resources would be expected to be used and this Council's response, and at 3.4 where future proposals for 1998/99 were listed. All measures proposed tied in with those identified at item 8. above.

RESOLVED

That the action of the Director of Housing and Environmental Services, in consultation with the Chairman of the Housing and Environmental Services Committee, in respect of the Capital Receipts Initiative, be endorsed.
