V25-1073 : PASSPORT TO LEISURE AND RESIDENTS PASSPORT - EXPANSION OF SCHEMES

The Passport to Leisure Scheme was introduced in 1993 to replace the former concessionary charging policy. The scheme had shown a steady growth since its introduction, and at the end of 1996/97 there were 4,035 participants. This was expected to reach 4,500 by the end of 1997/98.

The schemes enabled participants to use sports facilities at a reduced rate, and several local businesses also offered discounts to Passport to Leisure and Residents Passport Holders. From September 1997, seven new local businesses had been accepted by the Director of Community Services to join the scheme, making eleven in total.

RESOLVED

That the action of the Director of Community Services, in consultation with the Chairman, in accepting seven new businesses to offer discounts to Passport to Leisure and Resident Passport holders be confirmed.
