V25-1071 : LAND AT FAIRVIEW FARM, HALESWORTH - PLAYING FIELD PROVISION
The Chief Executive reported that Policy OS4.4 of the recently adopted Waveney Local Plan allocated an area of land at Fairview Farm, Halesworth, for playing field use. This allocation sought to address an established deficiency in playing field provision in Halesworth and the surrounding areas. There was existing budget allocation to finance the acquisition of this land, and once acquired, the land would be laid out and developed in consultation and co-operation with the Halesworth Playing Field Association. It was anticipated that the development costs would be financed by a Lottery grant. The Council's Head of Valuation and Estates had tried to negotiate a purchase of the land by Agreement but at present the landowner did not appear willing to sell by consent. In these circumstances there was no alternative but to resort to Compulsory Purchase powers to secure the acquisition of the land. RESOLVED
That authority be given to the making of a Compulsory Purchase Order in respect of land at Fairview Farm, Halesworth, allocated for playing field use by Policy OS4.4 of the Waveney Local Plan, in accordance with the provisions of Section 121 (1) of the Local Government Act 1972 and Section 19 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976.
