The subject of increased marketing and promotional activity for the Museum was discussed by the Trustees at their meeting on 6 October 1997.

It was agreed that the Hon. Curator and the Principal Arts and Heritage Officer would meet to discuss ways in which the promotion of the Museum could be improved through the development of a marketing plan and that their conclusions be reported back to the May 1998 meeting of the Trustees.

Mr. Reed had very little time to work on this activity, and consequently the Principal Arts and Heritage Officer was seeking someone else to lead the promotional campaign, with Mr. Reed taking a watching brief. Mr. Reed had a volunteer who was interest in working on promotion. The Committee asked that signage was examined as part of the review.

RESOLVED

That full support be given to developing a marketing plan for the Museum.
