V25-1054 : RESIDENTS' PARKING

The Committee were reminded that the last of the experimental residents' parking schemes in Lowestoft (Zone 3) was due to end in February 1998. Monitoring of the scheme had revealed a need to increase the number of residents' parking spaces in Zone 3 and also in Zone 2, as a final element in making the scheme permanent.

The Resident's Parking Working Party had recommended that in Zone 2 the number of spaces be increased in Seago Street, Wollaston Road and be provided in Yeovil Road, and the relocation of spaces in Haward Street. In Zone 3 additional spaces were put forward for Alma Road, Alma Street and Roman Road.

The Committee was also advised that an understanding had been reached with Suffolk County Council on the principles of a residents parking scheme for Beccles. Consultations were underway and a public meeting arranged on 21 November 1997.

RESOLVED

That the Chief Executive be authorised to advertise the permanent Orders for residents parking in Zone 3 and the amendments to the Zone 2 Order, and subject to there being no objections, to confirm the Order.
